The quickest way to spot generic AI phrasing is to hear it. Anything you would never say in a meeting should not survive the edit.

Cut the throat-clearing

AI drafts love warm-up sentences. Delete the first paragraph and see if the piece gets better — it usually does.

Add specifics

Replace every vague claim with a number, an example or a name. Specifics are what make writing feel real.
